The concept of Resurrection Studios ultimately comes down to a past life, of wearing a garment deemed dead, that has been resurrected into new life. Dead textile lies disconfigured on the floor, ripped apart and dissected, only to be rebuilt into something stronger, and more unique. The old garment is the foundation, as is our past, but with time, effort, and energy it can be transformed into something beautiful. I sew backwards, starting with completed products, not raw fabric, and puzzle instead of pattern new garments together. This always results in something that is 1 of 1 and irreplicable. This brand is about reclaiming the fashion industry as individual consumers. I could tell you about the devastating consequences of fast fashion and the data, but in this digital age we are so desensitized to numbers. The reality is, no, you can not save the millions of women and children who experience exploitative work environments in the garment industry overseas. But, you should acknowledge the fact that fast trend cycles, the race to the bottom, and mass consumerism fuel this demand for fast fashion. We can not control where we were born, or understand the circumstances as to why, but as American consumers, we must dismantle the system that enables this abuse. Resurrection Studios aims to rewrite the order of operations in the fashion industry by turning textile waste into raw material, and encouraging consumers to revoke group think and develop an individual sense of style.
